Beginner:
Open an audio file
Open one of the supplied audio files.
File>Open
Project>Import Audio
Use The transport
Try out the play, fast forward, rewind, stop and pause functions.
Close an audio file
Close it, select a different file.
File>Close
Save an audio file
Open another file, and save it under a different file name.
File>Save
Highlight Sections
Use the Mouse to highlight sections.
Cut the file into smaller parts
Break the file into 8 parts.
Use highlighting and the Edit>Copy-Paste functions. Also try out the Generate>Silence function
Experiment with Edit>Find Zero Crossings
Delete unwanted parts
Delete sections of the audioEdit/Delete
Adjust the volume of the audio file
Make the volume fluctuate from soft to loud.Use The Envelope Tool
Fade in - Fade Out
Fade out the beginning an end.
Effect> Fade
Export audio
Save the new audio as a wave file (Needed to burn a CD!)
File>Export as WAV
Record Audio from a CD
Use an audio ripper like CDex
Save as WAV
In Audacity select: Project>Import Audio and choose your file
or
Play the CD in a CD player program such as Windows Media Player
In audacity select Wave Out Mix
Press record, then stop, then save.
